2018 at Earth N Moon

With the new year quickly approaching, the time to plan for this upcoming year is already here for Earth N Moon. We have big decisions to make including what items to carry this year, what items to discontinue, and our overall path we'd like to take this year. We've had a chance to review some of what worked and what didn't work from 2017, and we would like to move forward implementing new and better ideas.

For us, this year is all about focusing on getting more of the message across of the quality of handmade over commercial. What does this mean? This means that we will be focusing more on blog posts, getting our products in multiple locations, and bringing it back to where it started-home.

Unfortunately, we will be shutting down our storefront in Roxboro no later than March 1st. This is due to a number of things-the main issue being my health and pregnancy. As many know, I am currently pregnant with my second child. I have had more issues with my health throughout this pregnancy than I had hoped for, but sometimes that's just how things play out. Unfortunately, I've been moved to a high risk clinic for prenatal care which means it is even more imperative for my health and the health of my baby that I slow down and focus more on that. The store will continue to be open until March 1st unless there is an emergent situation where it must close sooner. We will keep everyone updated on this.

As much as we hate to leave, we simply have no choice in the matter, and hiring someone to run the store is not financially possible will it solve other ongoing issues.

Good news though! I will still continue to make soaps and lotions, but home based as I was doing before. Sales will take place online and I will keep the Facebook page and keep managing things as I was before. However, I will be taking a short break to focus on my newborn and my other daughter. So, Spring/Summer 2018 is the projected month in which I plan to be back up and running on a home based scale. There are plans of getting back into craft shows possibly twice a month, maybe more depending on availability. We will be accepting custom orders again after April 2018.

Another good thing about this transition is I can get back to focusing more on product quality and my customers. There are many aspects to running a storefront, and one issue that I had was having the time to focus on customer need. There is an actual need for natural skincare that goes way beyond wanting a specific scent. There are so many people that actually need soaps and lotions for specific reasons such as psoriasis, eczema, severely sensitive skin, allergies, and more. While I love making the cute and colorful soaps, the whole reason I started making skincare was to help others like me with their skincare needs. I really want to get back to that, because I feel like I'm not doing what I set out to do in the first place. The whole mission seems to have gone off course from where I started and wanted it in the beginning, and I'm unhappy with it. So, it's time to change that back to what it was!

So here's what to expect:

More natural, herbal infused soaps
More natural, herbal infused lotions
More essential oils instead of fragrance oils (we'll still have a small line of your favorite fragrances like Love Spell, Sex on the Beach, Cool Citrus Basil, etc.)
More natural colorants in soaps instead of micas and FD&C colorants
More natural bath bombs using clays and epsom salts (they will all be made to order)
More natural skincare for men and kids
A line of natural, unscented skincare
